8/10/23

Royal Families,

We had a fantastic first day back at The Castle! We look forward to welcoming everyone back for day two tomorrow for Royal Spirit Friday!  Wear RRMS gear or purple, black, and silver to show your purple pride!

Students participated in community-building lessons today called Bridge the Ridge.  These opportunities deepen classroom connections, creating a strong Royal Culture of Caring.  We also reviewed The Castle Expectations and Student Code of Conduct videos, which families are strongly encouraged to view with their child at this link: https://rrms.pasco.k12.fl.us/?page_id=6313. 6th graders will bring home planners, and 7th and 8th graders will have We Are Royal folders with important information included. All teachers provided students with their syllabi today. Please review this important information with your student and return the signed acknowledgment with your child.

As a reminder, if you are driving your student to school, please use the middle school car loop.  There are two lanes that cars can follow to keep a steady traffic flow and ensure safety.  Please only use the car loop and do not park in the middle school staff parking spots to wait to drop off students, as it restricts staff access to work. Please, please, please DO NOT drop off or pick up students in the STUDENT Parking Lot. It is a safety issue, and you may be delayed leaving as staff closely monitors the exit to ensure safety. We may hold cars exiting in the student lot until the traffic clears to allow parents accessing the designated car loop a smooth ride in and allow student drivers a clear entry. Please drop off and pick up in the Car Loop only. We appreciate everyone’s patience and attention to safety by following the pick-up and drop off procedures.

Finally, if you have not registered for a myStudent Parent Portal, please do so as soon as possible. This year, you will miss valuable information regarding student grades, attendance, testing, and communication.  Parents also need to complete the Parent Bill of Rights acknowledgments each year.  There is also a myStudent app that assists in accessing information and communications.

We are looking forward to an amazing year where we RAISE THE BAR! Please don’t hesitate to contact us with questions, concerns, recommendations, or praise; we are truly partners in education! Proud that you are Royal!

8/9/23

Good afternoon, Royal Families! This is Mrs. Murphy, Principal of RRMS.
I want to welcome you to the new 23-24 school year at RRMS! We had a fantastic turnout on Friday at the Meet the Teacher Day Open House event! It was great to see all of our students and their families on campus. The new school year is upon us, so here is your first of many weekly phone calls.

Our school theme this year is #RAISE THE BAR! We are committed to SETTING THE ROYAL STANDARD by RAISING THE BAR to foster a royal culture of caring with a safe and loving school environment where learning happens at high levels, and ALL students succeed!
The first day of school is this Thursday, August 10th. School hours are 7:10AM-1:30PM. Students will be permitted onto campus at 6:50AM. We will also have a new bell schedule which will rotate times for each period.

As you are aware, student schedules are available on myStudent. Please be sure to check your schedule this evening, as we will be making schedule adjustments based on the schedule change requests that we received on Friday, and you will need this schedule to locate your first period class on Thursday. When students arrive on Thursday, first period rosters will be posted in the grade-level hallways.  Staff members will be stationed throughout the campus to assist with directing students to their 1st period class. There will be a breakfast cart in the middle school courtyard where students can grab and go a free breakfast and head directly to their first period classes. During 1st period, all students will receive a NEW schedule that will be LAVENDAR. This is the schedule that they are to follow from that point forward. Announcements will be made during 1st period for students to report to the media center if they have an error in their schedule. All students taking a high school class 1st period will pick up their schedules at the front office.

7th grade families – if you have not provided the school with your immunization records, we need this documentation as soon as possible, or your child will not be able to attend school on the first day. Please contact school nurse, Hailey Theisen at htheisen@pasco.k12.fl.us, if you
have questions. Also, parents can drop off medication for students at the clinic. Please also make sure to go on to myStudent Parent Portal to update emergency card information, sign consents, and to Rycor to pay school fees for the year. We also have new spirit
wear on sale on GoFan.co which can be picked up in the front office. Don’t miss out on our Royal Spirit Fridays to show your Purple Pride… students who wear their River Ridge gear will get a special treat at lunch!

This week in sports there will be football practice as all student athletes will make the team on August 10th-August 14th from 1:30PM-4PM. Cheerleading tryouts will be August 14th-August 16th from 1:30PM-3:30PM in the dance room. Volleyball tryouts will be August 16th-18th from 1:30PM-3:30PM. To try out, you must have a completed FHSAA physical packet including the three NFHS course certificates that reflect your 23-24 school year information. This paperwork is available on our school website under athletics at this link:
https://rrms.pasco.k12.fl.us/?page_id=3662. All FHSAA/PASCO ATHLETIC FORMS MUST BE UPLOADED TO: athleticclearance.com before a student is allowed to participate in tryouts or conditioning. Please reach out to our Athletic Director, Chrissy Brando
(cbrando@pasco.k12.fl.us), if you have any issues or questions.

Please check out the RRMS website and social media pages weekly, as there is a ton of important information there, including school-wide calendars. For my first-time listeners, each weekend, you will receive a phone call, email, and text link that contains information about the week ahead including the weekly Royal Update – Knight Newsletter. Check out the Week of 8/10-8/18 at this link. Please be sure to look over it and read it carefully.

We are looking forward to an amazing year where we RAISE THE BAR! Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions, concerns, recommendations or praise, we are truly partners in education with you! Proud that you are Royal!

The countdown is on for Back to School! We can’t wait to welcome all of our Royal Families back to The Castle!

Please click on the link to review the RRMS Student Summer Newsletter: RRMS Student Summer Newsletter.  This includes very important information about Storm the Castle (July 27th), Open House (August 4th), and the start of school on August 10th!

It is crucial that all of our families create a myStudent account in the Parent Portal as that will be the primary means of communication this year. This will also allow you to view your child’s schedule, pay fees, check attendance, grades, test history, and communicate with teachers through email.  Schedules and fees should be made available in myStudent by Monday, July 24th for those families who have completed the emergency card update, parent bill of rights acknowledgement, etc.
