Please read and carefully review the Royal Update-Knight News for 9/9-9/13. It contains important information on upcoming events.
Due to class size balancing and personnel moves, we must continue to adjust student schedules. This round of schedule changes will affect math classes. The affected students will be provided a new BLUE schedule, effective Monday, September 9th. We understand that these adjustments never come at a good time, and we appreciate your patience and support as we make this transition. We are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible. We will work closely with students to help them adjust to their new schedules and maintain their educational progress. If you have any questions or concerns about these changes, please get in touch with the grade-level school counselor or Ms. Martanovic at kmartano@pasco.k12.fl.us.

Royal Families,
We had a fantastic first day back at The Castle! We look forward to welcoming everyone back for day two tomorrow! Students participated in community-building lessons today called Bridge the Ridge. These opportunities deepen classroom connections, creating a Royal Culture of Caring. We also reviewed The Castle Expectations and Student Code of Conduct videos, which families are strongly encouraged to view with their children. 6th graders will bring home planners, and 7th and 8th graders will have folders with important information included. All teachers provided students with their syllabi today. Please review this important information with your student and return the signed acknowledgment with your child.
If you drive your student to school, please use the middle school car loop. There are two lanes that cars can follow to keep a steady traffic flow and ensure safety. Please only use the car loop and do not park in the middle school staff parking spots to wait to drop off students, as it restricts staff access to work. Please, please, please DO NOT drop off or pick up students in the STUDENT Parking Lot. It is a safety issue, and you may be delayed leaving as staff closely monitors the exit to ensure safety. We may hold cars exiting in the student lot until the traffic clears to allow parents accessing the designated car loop a smooth ride in and allow student drivers a clear entry. Please drop off and pick up in the Car Loop only NOT on Town Center, Dollar General, or in the neighborhoods. We appreciate everyone’s patience and attention to safety by following the pick-up and drop-off procedures.
Finally, if you have not registered for a myStudent Parent Portal, please do so as soon as possible. This year, you will miss valuable student grades, attendance, testing, and communication information. Parents also need to complete the Parent Bill of Rights acknowledgments each year. There is also a myStudent app that assists in accessing information and communications.
We are looking forward to an amazing year where we will MAKE EVERY ROYAL MOMENT MATTER! Please don’t hesitate to contact us with questions, concerns, recommendations, or praise; we are truly partners in education! Proud that you are Royal!
8/11/24
Royal Families,
This is Mrs. Murphy, Principal of RRMS. I want to welcome you to the new school year at RRMS! We had a fantastic turnout at last week’s Meet the Teacher Day Open House event! It was great seeing all of our students and their families on campus. The new school year is upon us, so here is your first of many weekly phone calls.
This year’s school theme is #LIVE YOUR DASH: Make Every Royal Moment Matter! We are committed to fostering a royal caring culture with a safe and loving school environment where learning happens at high levels, and ALL students succeed!
The first day of school is tomorrow, Monday, August 12th. School hours are 7:10AM-1:30PM. Students will be permitted onto campus at 6:50AM. We will continue the bell schedule as last year, which will rotate times for each period each day, allowing for daily intervention and enrichment.
As you are aware, student schedules are available on myStudent. Please be sure to check your schedule this evening, as we will be making schedule adjustments based on the schedule change requests, and you will need this schedule to locate your first-period class on Monday. First-period rosters will be posted in the grade-level hallways when students arrive on Monday. Staff members will be stationed throughout the campus to direct students to their 1st-period classes. A breakfast cart in the middle school courtyard will be where students can grab a free breakfast and head directly to their first-period classes. During 1st period, all students will receive a NEW schedule printed on BLUE paper. This is the schedule that they are to follow from that point forward. All students taking a high school class 1st period will pick up their schedules at the front office.
7th grade families – if you have not provided the school with your immunization records, we need this
documentation as soon as possible, or your child will not be able to attend school on the first day. Please contact school nurse Hailey Theisen at htheisen@pasco.k12.fl.us if you have questions. Also, parents can drop off medication for students at the clinic. Please also make sure to go to myStudent Parent Portal to update emergency card information, sign consents, and go to Rycor to
pay school fees for the year. We also have new spirit wear on sale on GoFan.co, which can be picked up at the front office. Don’t miss out on our Royal Spirit Fridays to show your Purple Pride… students who wear their River Ridge gear will earn Knight Dollars and get a special treat at lunch!
Due to recent state safety legislation, there will be a new traffic pattern this year as all buildings and classrooms must remain locked. Students must enter through the front of the Bldg. 23 only (Royal Blue, Navy, Green, and Maroon hallways) and exit through the back of the building, Bldg. 24 hallway, and the purple/gold stairwell. We realize these adjustments may be confusing initially, but we will work with students to find the best route for them. If they get locked out, they need to follow the established traffic pattern or go to the front office for assistance. We also highly recommend viewing the RRMS Castle Expectations Video before this week.
This week in sports, there will be football practice as all student-athletes will make the team on August 12th-August 16th from 1:30PM-4PM. Cheerleading tryouts will be August 13th-August 15th from 1:30PM-3:30PM in the dance room. Volleyball tryouts will be on August 19th-21st from 1:30PM-3:30PM. 6th and 7th grade try outs are August 19th, and August 20th are 8th graders and callbacks, with final try outs on August 21st. To try out, you must have a completed FHSAA physical packet including the three NFHS course certificates that reflect your 24-25 school year information. This paperwork is available on our school website under athletics at this link: RRMS ATHLETICS HOMEPAGE. All FHSAA/PASCO ATHLETIC FORMS MUST BE UPLOADED TO athleticclearance.com before a student is allowed to participate in tryouts or conditioning. Please contact our Athletic Director, Chrissy Brando (cbrando@pasco.k12.fl.us), if you have any issues or questions.
Please check out the RRMS website and social media pages weekly, as there is a ton of important information there, including school-wide calendars. For my first-time listeners, you will receive a phone call, email, and text link each weekend containing information about the week ahead, including the weekly Royal Update – Knight Newsletter. Check out the Week of 8/12-8/16 at this link. Please be sure to
look over it and read it carefully.

There will also be tables, including transportation, clubs and organizations, ESE, Athletics, and new Spirit Gear for purchase. After you have visited the Cafeteria, families are invited to walk their child’s schedule, meet their teachers, and attend one of 3 middle school transition sessions in the theater.
We will hold an Open House on Tuesday, August 6th, for returning students from 8 AM to 12 PM. Schedules will be available online only after the Parent Bill of Rights and emergency card information are updated.
There is also a special beginning-of-the-year newsletter for our 8th grade families at the link below!
8th Grade Beginning of the Year Newsletter
Our families must create a Mystudent account in the Parent Portal, as that will be the primary means of communication this year. This will also allow you to view your child’s schedule, pay fees, check attendance, grades, and test history, and communicate with teachers through email. Schedules and fees should be available in myStudent by tomorrow, Wednesday, July 31st, for those families who have completed the emergency card update, parent bill of rights acknowledgment, etc.
