I highly encourage you to take some time to review your child’s syllabus for each course and the planner with them.
Cheerleading tryouts will be Wednesday, August 15-Friday, August 17. All paperwork including a physical must be into Mrs. Vairo in order to tryout. Please see Mrs. Vairo in the dance room for more information. If you are interested in football, you may still join the team this week from 2-4:30PM. Please contact Coach Koos for more information. Volleyball try outs will be next week.
Open House will be on August 28th at RRMS. PTSA will be hosting a Royal Family Picnic with pizza, drinks, and games from 5PM-6PM in the cafeteria. More information on cost will be sent out by the end of the week. At 6PM, we will open the castle for families to follow your student’s schedule. This is a great opportunity to meet your child’s teachers and better understand the learning that will be taking place at The Ridge this year. I hope to see all of you at our Royal Family Picnic and Open House on August 28th! Please check our website and social media feeds frequently for updates on all of the happenings at The Ridge. As always, thank you for your support in making this the best year yet! We are so proud to be Royal!
Good afternoon Royal Knights. This is Mrs. Murphy, Principal of River Ridge Middle School.
I am looking forward to welcoming back all of our Royal Knights tomorrow morning when school starts at 7:30AM. The campus will be open to students starting at 7AM. Students who are car riders should only be dropped off and picked up in the middle school car loop. We ask that you be patient and courteous as there is usually a lot of traffic during the first few weeks. If at all possible, we are recommending that if your child is assigned a bus to please use the bus transportation as it limits the traffic. When students arrive on campus, they will be greeted by our Royal staff and should go to the media center or cafeteria to find their first period classes listed on the windows. Students will then report to first period when the first bell rings and will receive a brand new official schedule. Students should only follow the schedule they receive in first period as there have been some schedule changes. We have an adjusted bell schedule this year with separate lunches per grade level and our daily Knight Time homeroom sessions, which is posted on our website. Students will receive new River Ridge planners in these sessions, which we will be using school-wide for communication and organization this year.
Please make sure that you are connected with River Ridge by visiting our website, following us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter @rrmsroyalknight. We will be posting many pictures and important information from the first day and throughout the year on these sites. As always, if you have any questions or need clarifications, please don’t hesitate to contact us. I can’t wait to see our entire Royal Family back on campus ready to make this the best year yet at River Ridge Middle School because we are limitless and #WeAreRoyal!
Good evening Royal Families,
This is Mrs. Murphy, Principal of RRMS and I hope that everyone is enjoying their summer. The new school year is starting before we know it as you should have received your Royal Update back to school newsletter which includes important information including bell schedules, dress code, Code of Conduct, calendar and much more. The newsletter and updated supply lists is also located on the RRMS website.
As a reminder , on Thursday, August 2nd we will be hosting our Storm the Castle 6th grade and new 7th and 8th grade student orientation to RRMS. Parents should drop off students at the gym at 8:30AM. Please enter through the middle school entrance. Following drop off, parents of 6th grade students only should report to the cafeteria for a Parent University from 8:30AM-9:00AM on successfully transitioning your child to middle school. We will have coffee and cinnamon rolls as well as distributing important paperwork for schedule pick up. Students will spend the day learning our Knightly Values, completing a campus scavenger hunt, meeting new friends, getting acquainted with RRMS staff, and will be fed breakfast, a snack and lunch starting at 1PM. Parents should return to RRMS at 1:15PM and report to the gym to pick up schedules, pay fees, purchase PE uniforms, yearbooks, and our new spirit gear. We will also have an Express Line for those families who pay online ahead of schedule pick up. We will have tables for the new Beyond the Bell after school program sign up, PTSA membership which is $5, athletics, clubs, and other community organizations. After picking up your child’s schedule, please report to cafeteria to check out your student. At that time, we encourage you to tour the campus with your child to follow your student’s schedule until 3PM.
The county-wide registration day is on Tuesday, August 7th from 8AM-2PM in the Middle School Cafeteria. Those who attend Storm the Castle do not need to attend this day. All fees can be paid online using Acorn prior to attending county-wide registration day. Those who choose to do this will be given an express line for schedule pick up. Also, all 7th Graders must have their TDAP shots in order to be given a schedule and start school. You may drop off the TDAP paperwork to the front office before August 7th in order to get an express pass.
Also, mark your calendars for our August Open House event on August 28 from 6PM-8PM. PTSA will be hosting a Royal Family Picnic with pizza, drinks, and games from 5PM-6PM.
